While your story will be available to public viewing, any personal information you submit to the site will be kept in the strictest confidence. If you insist, you may publish your memory of the day under an alias, although we would hope to keep the memory wall as personal as possible.
Please note that, to preserve the integrity of the site and the sanctity of the day, all submissions will be moderated before going live. This is purely to filter out profanity and undesireable content and is in no way an impairment of freedom of expression. You will be notified by email as and when your submission goes live.
The June 16 1976 Foundation is formed to keep alive the memories and lessons of one of the emphatic watersheds in the history of South Africa. We are committed to capturing the courage and resolve of the youth of that time, and harnessing that energy in building the social, political and economic fabric of our growing nation.
This site is dedicated as much to those who have fallen, as it is to those who will find our future. The pain, lessons, and hope that we write about form a roadmap, not only for our own young democracy, but for humanity as a whole. Let us share and learn together.
