Delivering purposeful and deliberate intervention to address the needs of the youth;
Providing a catalyst for the upliftment and development of individuals and their communities;
Building a widespread network of skills, capital and social (and business) support; and
Ensuring sustainability of the Foundation’s work through partnerships with the beneficiaries of the Foundation’s work and other stakeholders.
our logo, by kind permission of Sam Nzima, reflects a portion of the photograph that has become the worldwide icon of June 16, 1976. It will doubtless evoke many different responses but, to us, the symbolism is clear: We move forward. Our memories move with us, and make us strong, but we move forward.
To protect the democratic gains enshrined in the constitution through projects and programmes that will assist in addressing poverty and lack of skills among the youth of South Africa;
To constructively contribute towards the rebuilding of an equitable socio-economic South Africa for all to live in;
To develop a cadreship that contributes and assumes an active role in the economic development of the country;
To plough back skills, knowledge and experience in order to develop the youth and to ensure that beneficiaries of the Foundation share this role; and
To establish partnerships with the youth formations and other stakeholders that share the foundation principles.
June 1976 became a watershed of the struggle, and in the same way, we want the work of the Foundation turn the tide in the battle against poverty and disenchantment amongst the youth.
For this to succeed we need to revisit that same discipline and selfless commitment and unleash the youthful energy within each individual.
The Foundation is pursuing partnerships with existing youth-focused initiatives and particularly, the National Youth Commission, with the view to enhancing and focusing the entire spectrum of national youth development and service programmes. These initiatives will expand and extend to include other youth programmes in the country.
